Export of turmeric to other countries has not decreased despite slower sales in Erode markets. “Though the sale has been low and the price has stagnated at ₹7,500-8,500 a quintal, exporters are buying. Every year, some 3,000 tonnes are being exported to countries including the UK, UAE, Singapore, Australia and the US,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. At the Regulated Market Committee, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,100-7,400 a quintal, the root variety fetched ₹6,100-7,087. At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,100-7,510.
