Export competition re-entered the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association this week after several months.
In particular, Pakistan gave strong support and bought cleaner blacker teas in a wide range of Rs 39-70 a kg, the CIS Rs 46-63 a kg and European markets Rs 46-55.
Quotations held by brokers indicated bids ranging Rs 40-43 a kg for plain leaf grades and Rs 80-130 for brighter liquoring sorts. They ranged Rs 41-46 for plain dusts and Rs 85-130 for brighter liquoring dusts.
Among orthodox teas from corporate sector, Chamraj fetched Rs 196, Kairbetta Rs 158, Havukal Rs 152, Curzon Rs 140, Quinshola clonal Rs 138, Tiger Hill clonal Rs 137, Highfield Estate Rs 136 and Sutton Rs 135. In all, 28 marks got Rs 100 and more.
Homedale Estate tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped CTC market at Rs 141 a kg. Vigneshwar Estate fetched Rs 138, Sree Tea Supreme Rs 132, Professor Rs 129, Hittakkal Estate, Shanthi Supreme Rs 128, Deepika Supreme Rs 127 each and Blue Mont Estate Special Rs 126.
In all, 81 marks received Rs 100 and more.
