The Government has again extended the term of the Chairman of the Forward Markets Commission, Ramesh Abhishek up to three months. This is the third extension for the chairman.
“The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of tenure of Ramesh Abhishek as Chairman, Forward Markets Commission for a period of three months beyond January 8, 2015 or until the appointment of the new incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earliest,” an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said here on Monday. Abhishek is a Bihar cadre Indian Administrative Service Officer of 1982 batch.
There is talk of IAS officer TV Somanathan and former Indian Economic Service officer MS Shahoo being considered but a formal decision is yet to be made. Abhishek was appointed Chairman of regulatory body on September 21, 2012. He was given first extension on July 8, 2014 and then second on October 8. Both these extensions were for three months.
