Freight rates for 10 tonne load for select southern destinations rose in the local truck transport market today following tight availability of trucks against increased cargo movement.

Transporters said better movement of cargo against less availability of trucks, mainly pushed up select freight prices for southern centres.

Delhi to Chennai and Bangalore prices moved up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 50,000 and Rs 51,000. Delhi to Coimbatore and Kochi rates also went up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 55,000 and Rs 58,000.

Rates to Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati rose Rs 1,000 each to Rs 65,000 and Rs 39,000.

Following are today’s truck hiring rates for a load of 10 tonne: Ahmedabad 17,000, Hyderabad 37,000, Mumbai 25,000, Vijayawada 39,000, Baroda 20,000, Chennai 50,000, Pune 27,000, Bangalore 51,000, Surat 22,000, Mysore 53,000, Kanpur 15,000, Puducherry 50,000, Kolkata 27,000, Coimbatore 55,000, Ludhiana 14,000, Kochi 58,000, Chandigarh 12,000, Thiruvananthapuram 65,000, Jaipur 10,000, Goa 36,000, Indore 16,000, Gwalior 11,000, Patna 22,000 and Guwahati 39,000.
