Nearly 65 per cent of the turmeric that arrived at the mandis in Erode was sold on Wednesday. “On Wednesday, 3,900 bags arrived for sale. The prices of finger turmeric at the Regulated Marketing Committee was down by ₹400 a quintal due to arrival of medium quality turmeric. But the prices in other markets were steady, ” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
At the Regulated Marketing Committee, the finger turmeric lost ₹400 a quintal but the root variety was up by ₹190. The prices of both the varieties were increased by ₹100 at the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society.
