Spot turmeric prices decreased at Erode on Wednesday as arrival of the spice increased. Of the arrival of 4,700 bags of turmeric, 70 per cent were sold. Adequate stocks position on increased supplies kept pressure on prices in futures trade as well. Quality finger turmeric was down by ₹100-200 a quintal and the root variety by ₹100.
The medium variety lost ₹100. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,409-8,525 a quintal; the root variety at ₹5,255-8,088. Of the 3,012 bags offered, 1,670 were sold.
