The demand for the hybrid turmeric was high in the Erode turmeric market.
On Friday, 11,000 bags arrived and 6,800 were sold. Of the total arrivals, the hybrid varieties comprised 2,000 bags. Because of the arrival of fine variety Salem Hybrid, it was sold at ₹10,500 a quintal. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, the finger turmeric went for ₹6,169-9,286 a quintal, the root variety ₹5,509-8,596. Of the arrival of 4,031 bags, 2,010 were traded.
