Jeera futures prices declined by Rs 118 to Rs 16,586 per quintal today on profit-booking by speculators and a weak export demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June fell by Rs 118 or 1.96 per cent to Rs 23,835 per quintal with an open interest of 100 lots. Similarly, March contract lost Rs 25 or 0.11 per cent to Rs 22,835 per quintal with a business volume of 5,965 lots.
Market analysts said apart from profit-booking, weak export demand kept the pressure on jeera futures prices.
However, estimates of lower output restricted the losses to some extent, they added.
