Jeera prices on the futures market increased on the back of short covering by traders due to production cut and report of crop damage due to unfavourable weather in producing belts of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Spot jeera traded almost flat, though. On the NCDEX, May contract increased by ₹175 to ₹17,775 a quintal with an open interest of 19,326 lots, while the June series gained ₹140 at ₹18,085 with an open interest of 4,839 lots. Spot price was almost flat as demand from exporters and domestic buyers were normal. At Unjha mandi, Gujarat, arrival was 35,000 bags and prices stood at ₹2,800-3,300 for a maund of 20 kg. At Rajkot, price was ₹2,500-3,200 over an arrival reported 2,200 bags.
