Amidst lower arrivals, several tea varieties witnessed heavy withdrawals at Kochi auctions due to low bid or lack of bid. The market for Good Liquoring teas in dust varieties remained barely steady and tended to ease. Others were irregular and lower by ₹2-4 a kg and sometimes more. The quantity on offer in CTC grades was 11,99,500 kg in sale no 29.
The demand was also less for orthodox varieties and the quantity on offer was 15,500 kg. In Cochin CTC dust quotation, Good grades quoted ₹90-124, mediums fetched ₹64-93 and plain varieties stood at ₹54-63. In the leaf category, the quantity on offer in Orthodox grades was 232,500 kg. With improved arrivals, the market for Niligiri Brokens, whole leaf remained steady to firm and sometimes dearer following quality.
There was a fair export demand especially from CIS countries and Tunisia. In CTC leaf, the quantity on offer was 71,000 kg, with subdued demand from upcountry buyers.
