Lead prices moved up by 0.63 per cent at the futures trading today as traders build up fresh positions largely on pick-up in domestic demand even as the metal weakened at the London Metal Exchange.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in July moved up by 75 paise or 0.63 per cent to Rs 120.15 per kg with a business turnover of 1,576 lots. Likewise, August contract rose by the same margin to Rs 120.75 per kg with a trade turnover of 136 lots.
Market analysts said increased demand from battery makers at the domestic market helped lead futures to trade higher but the metal’s weakness at the London Metal Exchange capped the gains.
Meanwhile, lead lost 0.4 per cent to $2,690 a tonne.
