Edible oils market ruled mixed on Friday on back of weak futures amid slack demand. Soyabean and sunflower oil declined by ₹8 and ₹10 each while groundnut oil rose by ₹5. Palmolein, cotton and rapeseed oil were unchanged. Morale was cautious and slightly weak, said an observer.

Arrivals of monsoon rain after a month-long dry spell in producing centres has increased hopes of speedy kharif sowing. During the day, hardly 400-500 tonnes of palmolein and 250-300 tonnes of soyabean refined oil were bought by stockists. Liberty was quoting palmolein at ₹568, super palmolein ₹585 and soyabean refined oil ₹650. Ruchi traded palmolein for ₹565-568, soyabean refined oil ₹640-643 and sunflower refined oil ₹643-646. In Saurashtra, groundnut oil telia tin lost ₹10 to ₹1,215 and loose (10 kg) at ₹775 (₹785).
