Arrivals of turmeric to the markets in Erode increased on Friday. “For the first time, the four turmeric markets received a total arrival of 8,500 bags. This is due to the proposed closure of the markets for nine days from March 30 due to a local festival,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. He said in the morning the futures price was up by ₹100 a quintal; but the spot markets showed a mixed trend. Regarding the price, finger turmeric declined by ₹250 at the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, but at the Regulated Marketing Committee it was up by ₹100. Similarly, root variety lost ₹250 at the Regulated Marketing Committee.
