Nearly 88 per cent of Coonoor tea sold

Nearly 88 per cent of the offer at Sale 22 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold despite the average price rising to ₹95.55 a kg from previous week’s ₹ 93.93.

Kodanad orthodox tea topped the auctions at ₹ 252. In the orthodox market, Kairbetta followed at ₹ 234, Glendale ₹206, Havukal at ₹205 and Siruvani at ₹201.

Among CTC leaf auctions, two grades of Pinewood topped, both fetching ₹ 206 a kg, followed by two other grades of Pinewood fetching ₹205.

Among CTC dust auctions, Vigneshwar Estate tea, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing Pvt Ltd, topped at ₹ 203.
