The new turmeric from Erode area will arrive within 20 days. “Already for the past three months the Mysore and Dharmapuri new turmeric are arriving for sale and traders have purchased the same for their requirements. For the past two days good number of turmeric is arriving for sale and on Tuesday 3,500 bags was arrived and 70 per cent stocks were sold for ₹7,500 a quintal of finger and ₹6,800 a quintal of root variety.
Now the traders are expecting Erode turmeric which is in harvest stage now and within three week, roughly by the end of April the Erode new turmeric may arrive for sale, when the buyers will buy good number of bags”, said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
Regarding the price, the traders for want of good quality arrival, quoted decreased price for the medium quality as ₹7,400 to ₹7,600 a quintal of finger turmeric. This is ₹350 a quintal less than previous day price. Similarly they quoted decreased price for the root turmeric also due to quality.
