Sugar prices on the Vashi market ruled steady with thin volatility on Monday as supply remained routine while local demand remained need-based. Enough stocks in the hands of stockists kept them away from making fresh bulk buys.

Naka and mill prices were also range-bound. Higher production, inventory and limited demand will continue to keep prices under pressure. Arrivals were at 60-61 truck loads and local dispatches were about 58-59 loads. About 18-20 mills offered tenders and sold about 34,000-35,000 bags at ₹2,225-2,380 (2,250-2,380) for S-grade and ₹2,360-2,480 (2,370-2,480) for M-grade.

The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,402-2,555 (2,402-2,555) and M-grade ₹2,582-2,702 (2,540-2,711). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,350-2,475 (2,350-2,475) and M-grade ₹2,450-2,600 (2,450-2,600).
