Pepper prices remained unchanged as demand matched supply. Sellers in the High Ranges stayed away from the market as more buyers were seen looking for supplies, trade sources told BusinessLine. They said sellers are expecting prices to move up to levels above ₹700 a kg they received in April-end last year. High Range sellers are reportedly not ready to sell below ₹585-590 as they were getting this price at their doorsteps on cash-and-carry basis from Tamil Nadu buyers. From upcountry industry buyers, end users and exporters were all covering. Indian prices are at the same time competitive in the international markets with Vietnamese prices. On the terminal market, 67 tonnes arrived – 36 tonnes were from Kodagu region of Karnataka. Spot prices stayed steady at ₹55,500 (ungarbled) and ₹58,500 (garbled) a quintal on matching demand and supply. On the IPSTA platform, April and May contracts remained unchanged. Export prices were at $9,650 a tonne c&f for Europe and $9,950 for the US.
