The uptrend continued in pepper futures on Monday on strong domestic demand amid tight supply.
On the spot, arrivals were 12 tonnes while the offtake was 15 tonnes at ₹498-510 a kg depending on quality, moisture content, bulk density area of production etc., they said.
On the NMCE, Feb contract declined by ₹125 to ₹51,800 while March was up by ₹217 to ₹52,300.
Total turn over dropped by 5 tonnes. Total open interest was up by three tonnes to 20 tonnes. On the IPSTA, February and March contracts went up by ₹470 and ₹445 respectively to close at ₹52,380 and ₹49,560. Spot prices rose by ₹200 to close at ₹49,800 (ungarbled) and ₹51,800 (garbled) on strong demand amid tight availability.
Export prices were $8,600 a tonne (c&f) for Europe and $8,850 a tonne c&f for the US.
