Strong festival demand from Tamil Nadu for High Range pepper is keeping the prices steady at a time when there is no upcountry demand forthcoming due to availability of imported pepper, market sources told BusinessLine . TN-based dealers were covering directly from the farm gates in Idukki at ₹685 a kg. In the upcountry markets, 500 GL Vietnam pepper is being sold at ₹675, while 525-530 GL Sri Lankan pepper was at ₹685. On the terminal market, eight tonnes pepper were traded today at ₹695. Spot prices remained steady at ₹68,100 (ungarbled) and ₹71,100 (garbled) a quintal. November, December and January contracts on the IPSTA were steady at ₹71,000, ₹62,000 and ₹57,000. Export prices were at $10,950 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,200 for the US.
