Barring urad and masur, a majority of pulse seeds and pulses in Indore mandis today ruled firm on subdued demand. Delay in sowing, higher imports and strong buying support from millers added to the uptrend in urad prices for the last few days, with urad (bold) quoted at ₹5,600-5,800 a quintal in the local mandis, while urad (medium) ruled at ₹4,800-5,200 a quintal.
Compared to its prices four days ago, urad is ruling flat. The first spell of monsoon rains arrested the rally in urad with its prices declining to ₹5,500 a quintal. The rise in urad also lifted its dal with urad dal (medium) quoted at ₹6,500-6,600 a quintal and urad dal (bold) at ₹7,000-7,100; urad mongar rallied to ₹9,000-9,500 a quintal. Moong and its dal ruled firm on subdued demand with prices of moong (bold) in Indore mandis on Friday quoted at ₹6,500-6,700 a quintal, while moong (medium) ruled at ₹5,200-5,700 a quintal.
