Spot prices of turmeric increased at the markets in Erode due to the arrival of quality turmeric.
“3,750 bags arrived for sale and 65-70 per cent stocks were sold,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
The prices of both finger turmeric and root turmeric increased by ₹100-150 a quintal.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,389-6,589 a quintal; root variety was sold at ₹4,700-6,200. Of the arrival of 2,158 bags, 992 were sold.
At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger variety went for ₹5,639-6,239 a quintal and root variety was sold at ₹5,499-5,839. Of the 454 bags placed for sale, 398 were traded.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, finger turmeric fetched ₹5,689-6,309 a quintal, root variety was sold at ₹5,462-5,799. All the 999 bags of turmeric arrived for sale were sold.
