The price of the turmeric has increased with the arrival of good quality turmeric and buyers are quoting higher price for the commodity which has good percentage of cur cumin content . They have purchased almost all the good quality turmeric for their committed upcountry demand and also for local supply, said Krishnamurthy a trader.

The good quality finger turmeric was sold at ₹8,200 to ₹8,600 a quintal and poor quality at ₹5,000 a quintal. On Tuesday 20 bags of good quality finger turmeric was sold at ₹8,600 a quintal. Regarding the price of the commodity, the finger turmeric was increased by ₹500 a quintal at the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society and in other markets it was increased by ₹100 a quintal. The root variety was increased by ₹200 a quintal at the Regulated Marketing Committee and it was increased by ₹100 a quintal in other markets when compared to previous day sale price.
