The Salem Turmeric was sold for ₹7,000 a quintal.
“About 20 bags of Salem Turmeric arrived for sale at the Regulated Marketing Committee on Wednesday and it was sold for ₹7,000 a quintal. But local turmeric was sold for ₹5,800-6,500 a quintal. Arrivals increased to 4,500 bags and the traders purchased 70 per cent,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,399-6,409 a quintal; root variety fetched ₹4,788-5,899. Of the arrival of 2,080 bags, 680 were sold.
At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,999-7,399; root variety fetched ₹5,029-6,299. Of the 1,167 bags placed for sale, 1,071 were sold.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, finger turmeric went for ₹5,737-6,565 a quintal, while root variety was sold at ₹5,495-6,092. Of the 1,201 bags kept for sale, 1,135 were sold.
