Coconut oil pricesincreased marginally as sellers retained their produce expecting an uptrend in prices. “Last week it was at ₹1,680 and today it was sold for ₹1,730/15 kg. The buyers are ready to buy some little quantity, but the sellers are reluctant expecting that the price may increase. Only negligible quantity of coconut oil was sold from Kangeyam and Uthukuli area,” said RM Palaniusamy, a coconut oil trader. Copra prices decreased to ₹7,900-8,000 a quintal. Some oil crushers, those who are already having good stock of copra and coconut oil, feel that the price of copra and also the oil will come down soon. Meanwhile, the oil traders said the sale of cheaper oils such as sunflower oil and palm kernel oil increased. Palm oil was sold at ₹5,100 a quintal.
