Spot pepper prices slipped for want of buyers when the sellers were trying to sell off. Diwali buying has come to an end as north India is closed till November 2. On the terminal market, 10 tonnes were traded at ₹680-690 a kg. 550 GL pepper was traded at ₹680. Spot prices declined by ₹100 a quintal to ₹68,000 (ungarbled) and ₹71,000 (garbled).
However, November, December and January contracts remained unchanged at ₹71,000, ₹62,000 and ₹57,000 respectively. Export prices were at around $10,900 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,150 for the US.
