Spot prices of the turmeric increased at the markets in Erode on Wednesday.
“Traders purchased more than 90 per cent of the arrivals at the Erode Cooperative Society and in other markets they bought limited stock,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
Totally, 3,110 bags of the spice arrived for sale and the buyers purchased 1,567 bags of good and medium quality turmeric.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,700-6,491 a quintal; root variety was sold at ₹4,899-5,822. Of the 1,853 bags arrived, 421 were sold.
At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger turmeric went for ₹4,766-6,014; root variety was sold at ₹4,369-5,499. 311 bags were placed for sale, of which 222 were sold.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, finger turmeric fetched ₹5,259-6,469; root variety went for ₹4,530-5,869. Of the 946 bags on offer, 924 found takers.
