Spot turmeric prices increased at Erode markets due to arrival of quality produce.
On Friday, 8,800 bags arrived and 70 per cent of the stocks were sold. The price was up ₹200 a quintal for the finger variety and ₹100 for the root variety.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger variety was sold at ₹5,775-8,389 a quintal and the root variety ₹5,580-7,441. Of the arrival of 2,754 bags, 1,600 were sold.
At the Regulated Market Committee, the finger turmeric went for ₹7,493-8,487; the root variety ₹7,169-7,855. All the 1,655 bags found takers.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric traded at ₹7,366-8,569; the root variety at ₹7,316-7,899. Of the arrival of 2,569 bags, 2,409 were sold.
