The arrival of turmeric is in steady position. “For the past two days the arrival for sale has crossed five thousand bags. The traders those who received fresh upcountry demand have started buying the turmeric only for their requirements. Further, the traders are buying some quantity of turmeric from other markets like Nizamabad for their requirements”, said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. He said the price of the commodity was stable in all the markets with meagre ups and downs based on the quality. The price is also almost stable at the turmeric futures. But he said the price at the turmeric futures is not reflecting day today arrival and sales. The buyers quoting price based on their demands and quality.
5,300 bagsarrived for sale and 65 per cent stocks were sold. The buyers have purchased almost all the medium and good quality turmeric, rejected the poor quality turmeric. Regarding the price, the price of the finger turmeric increased by ₹300 a quintal at the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard and Erode Cooperative Marketing Society due to quality. But it was decreased by ₹100 at the Regulated marketing Committee.
