Spot pepper gained on good demand amid tight supply. Availability of high bulk density pepper continues to remain tight and that in turn pushed up the prices, market sources told BusinessLine. Activities were limited. High Range pepper was nominally quoted at ₹655 a kg while that of Pulpally and Bathery (Wayanad) was at ₹650. Coorg pepper was at ₹630 and the semi-processed was nominally quoted at ₹645 a kg. Only 17 tonnes of pepper were traded today. Spot prices moved up by ₹200 a quintal to ₹63,100 (ungarbled) and ₹66,100 (garbled). Export prices were nearly steady at $10,750 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,000 for the US.
