Soya oil trade remained sluggish on subdued demand. In the local market, soya refined ruled firm at Rs 575-582 for 10 kg though bulk trading was done at Rs 578-580.

Soya refined on Saturday ruled at Rs 578-580 in the absence of enthusiastic demand at plant-level.

Similarly scattered buying was seen in soya solvent with its prices in the spot quoted at Rs 545-548 for 10 kg, though bulk demand in soya solvent was seen at Rs 543.

On the NBOT also, soya oil futures traded lower with its May contract closing Rs 6.50 lower at Rs 607.50 for 10 kg. Similarly on the NCDEX, soya oil May and June contracts closed lower at Rs 699.50 and Rs 616.70 for 10 kg on weak buying interest.

Because of closure of local mandis on Monday due to “Hanuman Jayanti,” no spot trading in soyabean took place. Arrival of soyabean in State mandis was nil because of holiday. Plant deliveries of soya bean ruled at Rs ,2330-2,380 a quintal against Rs 2,300-2,380 on Saturday.

Bearish trend in soyabean has also been attributed to weak demand in soyameal which on the port is ruling steady at Rs 18,400 a quintal for the past few days, while in the domestic market, soya DOC quoted at Rs 17,500 a quintal.
