Pepper markets witnessed a firmer trend in both the spot and the futures on squeezed supply. Sellers were reportedly not forthcoming and the arrivals are likely to pick up only after 15th of the month when harvesting in almost all the areas will begin, market sources told BusinessLine . On the terminal market, 20 tonnes were traded at prices ranging between ₹640 and ₹675 a kg. Spot prices moved up by ₹100 a quintal to ₹65,800 (ungarbled) and ₹68,800 (garbled). January, February and March contracts were seen volatile on the IPSTA and have moved up by ₹1,000 a quintal each to ₹69,000, ₹67,000 and ₹62,000. Export prices were at $10,450 a tonne c&f for Europe and $10,700 for the US.
