Both the leaf and dust markets were strong. The leaf tea grades fetched an average price of ₹101.73 a kg against ₹97.79 in the previous sale.

The dust tea grades fetched an average price of ₹95.91 a kg against ₹90.81 in the previous week. Collectively, the average price at this week’s auction rose to ₹99.70 from the previous week’s ₹95.55.

This was the highest average price for over a year, the previous high being ₹100.77 fetched on April 26, 2019. Increased demand was felt for medium and plainer grades but the demand for high-priced teas was limited.
