As much as 24 per cent of 17.73 lakh kg offered in Sale No: 28 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction remained unsold despite the average price crashing to over three-month low of ₹93.41 a kg due to inadequate demand at high bids.
The Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the Leaf auction as also the entire CTC market when Vora Sons bought it for ₹191 a kg.
In the Dust Tea auction, Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹190, followed by Darmona Estate’s Super Red Dust at ₹181. In the orthodox market, Chamraj topped at ₹234 followed by Kodanad ₹234 and Karibetta ₹205.
