Teas worth about ₹2.54 crore remained unsold at Sale No: 6 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association despite the average prices falling to ₹99.52 a kg from the previous week’s ₹100 due to inadequate demand at higher prices.

In some cases, exporters were seen to remain silent. Overall, there were no takers for some 22 per cent of the offer.

For the second consecutive week, Homedale Estate CTC Broken Orange Pekoe grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire auctions when PS industries bought it for ₹291 a kg.

Another bought leaf factory Vigneshwar Tea Factory’s tea, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing, followed at ₹201.

Among orthodox teas, Kodanad fetched the top price of ₹267 a kg, followed by Kairbetta at ₹261 and Chamraj at ₹240.
