Shortage of transport vehicles at producing centres continued to lift sugar prices at the Vashi market by ₹5-10 a quintal on Monday. Naka and mill tender rates were steady on routine activities.
Sources said the sudden jump in transportation charges by ₹25-30 in two days has affected arrivals to the market.Arrivals were at 57-58 truck loads and local dispatches were at 58-60 loads.
Inventory at Vashi was about 105-110 truck loads. On Saturday, 15-16 mills offered tenders and sold about 34,000-35,000 bags.The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,676-3,756 and M-grade ₹3,762-3,940. Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,640-3,700 and M-grade ₹3,750-3,800.
