Turmeric futures registered a rise on Thursday by gaining ₹50-60 a quintal. But, spot market traded in red.
“ Today, 4,156 and odd bags arrived for sale and on an average 70 per cent was sold,” said RKV Ravishanakar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
Finger turmeric decreased by ₹150 a quintal due to quality.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales Yard, finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,339-6,417 a quintal, root variety was sold at ₹4,429-6,036 a quintal. Of the arrival of 2,204 bags, 911 were sold.
At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger turmeric went for ₹5,019-6,214 a quintal and root variety was sold at ₹4,711-5,888. Of the 983 bags on offer, 774 were traded.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,411-6,174 a quintal, while root variety was sold at ₹5,329-5,869. Of the 897 bags offered for sale, 851 found takers.
At the Gobichettipalayam Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Society, finger turmeric fetched ₹5,569-6,199 a quintal, root variety was sold at ₹5,422-5,762. All the 72 bags on offer were traded.
