Spot turmeric prices increased at Erode markets despite higher arrivals. “This is due to the arrival of medium and good quality turmeric. The traders were keen on buying the local hybrid turmeric varieties and all the 400 bags of local hybrid were sold for a higher price,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. He said of the arrival of 4,200 bags, 65 per cent stocks were sold. Only traders procured the same and no stockists purchased the turmeric. The price of the finger turmeric increased by ₹150 a quintal and the root variety by ₹100. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric fetched ₹7,355-9,214 a quintal; the root variety ₹7,100-8,439. Out of 1,184 bags offered, 954 were sold. Our Correspondent
