Spot turmeric prices decreased at Erode markets on Wednesday as only medium quality produce arrived for sale. “Nearly 4,300 bags arrived for sale and the buyers purchased 60 per cent of them for a lesser price”, said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. Finger turmeric lost ₹300 a quintal , while root variety was down ₹500. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,759-7,953 a quintal; the root variety at ₹6,579-7,455. Of the 410 bags kept for sale, 226 were sold.
