The traders have received good demand for turmeric. “The turmeric traders of Erode received fresh demands and so they are buying good number of turmeric for their demand. Further some good quality is also arriving for sale, so the traders quoting increased price . The price of the turmericincreased after two days slash at the turmeric futures by ₹50 to ₹60 a quintal. This has reflected in local trading and the buyers quoted increased price for the commodity”, said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
He said on Thursday 4,500 bags arrived for sale and 75 per cent stocks were sold for increased price. If the traders receive more upcountry demand they may quote increased price and purchase more turmeric bags. The price of the finger turmeric was increased by ₹300 a quintal at the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard when compared to previous day sale price. Similarly the root variety also increased by ₹250 a quintal. But there was no major increase in price of the both varieties of turmeric in other markets, but the sale was improved.
