Vahdam Teas, an online tea start up has said that its new “Chai Teas Private Reserve Trio” has been included in Oprah's Favourite Things holiday gift 2018.

Claiming this recognition as the “first for an Indian company” to be featured in Oprah Winfrey's favourite things, Bala Sarda, founder, Vahdam Teas said the company is “honoured, thrilled to be figured” as Oprah is an inspiration for millions around the globe. “She is a chai lover and Vahdam's chai blends – particularly Spiced Oolong, Ginger and Sweet Cinnamon - have found a place in her list of favourite things.”

The company has been disrupting the supply chain of tea by offering garden fresh teas to consumers across the globe in the shortest possible time by leveraging technology and cutting out unnecessary middlemen, Sarda explained. The teas from the company's stable are procured directly from plantations within days of production, packaged garden fresh and shipped directly to the consumer.

“We have, since inception in 2015, shipped over 100 million cups of tea to consumers in over 85 countries. We are excited to take the next step in our growth journey and achieve our vision of making freshest Indian teas available to consumers worldwide under a home-grown brand,” the founder said.

The company raised $2.5 million in Series B Funding in October 2018 for its direct-to-consumer business through Fireside Ventures. The funds are also being used to strengthen its US market and to explore new territories in India. Vahdam recently opened an office in New York and warehouse in Indianapolis, from where 70 per cent of its revenue is said to come from.

The over ₹150-crore company will soon unveil Single Serve Pyramid Tea Bags, added to its offering of 75+ tea blends in loose leaf teas.
