For Sale No: 47 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association which will conclude on Friday, a volume of 10.68 lakh kg has been catalogued – almost the same level as last week’s offer.

Of this, 7.52 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 3.16 lakh kg, dust grades. As much as 9.46 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.22 lakh kg, orthodox variety. In the leaf counter, only 72,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 6.80 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 50,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 2.66 lakh kg, CTC.

Homedale Estate’s Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the Dust tea auction and the entire CTC market last week when Poonam Traders bought bit for ₹206 a kg. No other CTC grade crossed ₹200/kg mark.
