Volume dips at Coonoor tea sale
A volume of 10.65 lakh kg has been catalogued for sale No: 37 of the auction of Coonoor Tea Trade Association to be held on Thursday and Friday. This is as much as 1.12 lakh kg less than last week’s offer. Of this, 7.22 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 3.43 lakh kg, dust grades. As much as 9.58 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.07 lakh kg, orthodox variety. In the leaf counter, only 62,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 6.60 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 45,000 kg belongs to orthodox while 2.98 lakh kg, CTC. Quotations held by brokers last week indicated bids ranging ₹81-83 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹100-150 for brighter liquoring sorts. They ranged ₹90- 95 for plain dusts and ₹110-180 for brighter liquoring dusts.
