Zinc prices moved up by 0.77 per cent to Rs 98.25 per kg at the futures trade today, taking positive cues from the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in June moved up by 75 paise or 0.77 per cent to Rs 98.25 per kg with a business turnover of 1,291 lots. Likewise, the metal for delivery in July also edged up by 70 paise or 0.71 per cent to Rs 99.30 per kg in 130 lots.
Analysts said a better trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange and increased demand from consuming industries at the domestic markets helped zinc futures prices to trade higher.
Meanwhile, zinc climbed 1.1 per cent to $2,196 a tonne at the LME.
