Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened higher at Rs 30,847 per 10 grams on Friday against the previous close of Rs 30,722 and continues to hold on to the gain even as rupee appreciated against dollar.
At 1.15 pm, October contract gold on MCX was trading up 0.45 per cent at Rs 30,860.
At Comex, the yellow metal for December delivery was down by $4 at $1,793.
