Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened lower at Rs 30,800 per 10 grams on Friday against the previous close of Rs 30,837.
In Comex, it was trading lower at $1,655 a troy ounce.
The impact of weak trend in global gold prices will be minimised by the rupee depreciaton agains the dollar in India.
