Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened lower at Rs 31,136 per 10 grams on Monday against the previous close of Rs 31,167.
At Comex, the yellow metal was trading down by $7 at $1,774 a troy ounce at 12.45 pm. At MCX, gold for December delivery was quoted down by 0.23 per cent at Rs 31,167.
