Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened lower at Rs 31,774 per 10 grams against the previous close of Rs 31,811.
The yellow metal for October delivery on MCX may continue to trade lower taking cues from the international markets.
At 1.35 pm, gold futures at Comex were trading down by $12 at $1,758 a troy ounce.
The fall in gold futures prices may reverse in the evening session depending on the global developments.
