Silver prices went up by Rs 70 to trade at Rs 36,990 per kg at the futures trading today as participants built fresh bets amid a firm trend in precious metals overseas.

At the futures trading, silver for delivery in December was up by Rs 70 or 0.19 per cent at Rs 36,990 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange in a business turnover of 200 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month March 2016 gained Rs 45 or 0.12 per cent to Rs 37,680 per kg in three lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by speculators in step with a firm trend in global markets influenced silver prices at the futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver was up 0.25 per cent at $15.88 an ounce in Singapore today.
