Silver fell Rs 136 to Rs 39,586 per kg at the futures trade today due to a weak trend overseas and profit-booking by speculators.
Silver for delivery in December was trading lower by Rs 136 or 0.34 per cent to Rs 39,586 per kg in a business turnover of five lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).
On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in March was trading lower by Rs 122 or 0.37 per cent at Rs 40,170 per kg in a business turnover of 31 lots.
In the international market, silver traded 0.35 per cent lower at $16.84 an ounce in Singapore.
Market analysts said a weak trend in precious metals in global markets as strength in dollar diminished appeal of the precious metals as a safe haven and trimming of positions by speculators at prevailing levels, put pressure on silver futures.
