Taking positive cues from overseas market, silver prices edged higher by Rs 183 to Rs 36,585 per kg at the futures trade today after speculators enlarged their positions.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July was up by Rs 183 or 0.5 per cent to Rs 36,585 per kg in a business turnover of 44 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 176 or 0.49 per cent to Rs 36,126 per kg in 430 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at the futures trade to a firm trend in precious metals as conflicting US data clouded the outlook for higher rates before Federal Reserve policy makers meet this week.
Meanwhile, silver advanced as much as 0.6 per cent to $15.83 an ounce in Singapore.
